Rafe and Karma had finished their breakfast when she checked the time. “Aren’t you going to work?”

“My work is here for now. There is much that I have to do in order to protect my family.”

Karma looked over at the hidden passageways. “I do not like those, Rafe. The cleaning crew comes through those and I don’t see a reason for that. No one should come into our home without us knowing.”

He contemplated her words. Although, anyone that had access to the building had continuous security protocol. Besides, it wasn’t the humans that posed a threat, it was the Queens.

He would be setting a new protocol that had never before been instituted. No female Galatian would be allowed entrance onto the compound.

The only Queen that would ever see the inside of this building was his own.

“I will have those entrances completely sealed when the construction crew comes to build M’s suite.”

Karma grinned in pride. “You’re so kind, Rafe. You’re going to build a place for a child you don’t even know.”

“Our home is large enough.”

Our home. Karma couldn’t keep the grin from her face.

She swallowed and reached across the table for his hand. He gently held her hands in his. “What aren’t you telling me?”

Rafe kissed the knuckles of her hand. “I want you. You are my Queen. You have seven years with me and I do not know if that will be enough for me. When I asked you to be my bound-mate, I do not think you understand what that means. It means forever. It means that once you truly are my bound-mate, I will never let you go—you or our child.”

Karma pulled their hands to her lips. “Why do you think that would be a problem?”

“Because we do not always think alike. But it doesn’t mean that you are always wrong—” She snorted. Rafe tinted yellow. “I will learn. Humans are different than Galatians. I will have to learn you.”

“I believe I understand the issue.” But maybe Rafe didn’t understand her commitment to their life. Once, she would have said to her own life. But knowing that Rafe wanted her…that changed everything.

She intended to keep him. She just wanted to be alive to enjoy it.
